Tanya Beckford, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who’s been on the team at Southern Crescent Women’s HealthCare in Fayetteville, Georgia, since 2014. She maintains a focused interest in urogynecology, pelvic floor relaxation, and incontinence surgery, and performs many in-office procedures, such as ablation, sterilization, and hysteroscopy.
Dr. Beckford is a New York native and completed her undergraduate degree at the Honors College at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. She earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where she also completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency and served as a clinical assistant professor. She’s currently certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
Dr. Beckford is renowned for her abilities in a wide range of procedures. She’s highly skilled in the delivery of both high- and low-risk pregnancies, frequently performs a vaginal hysterectomy (the least invasive type of hysterectomy that leaves no visible incisions), and is experienced in laparoscopic and abdominal hysterectomies. She’s a firm believer in treating every patient according to their unique needs and preferences, and always makes sure to approach treatment as a collaborative exercise, making patients aware of alternative treatments and options for nonsurgical management of conditions.
Dr. Beckford enjoys working with patients of all ages. She’s passionate about providing mentorship to her younger patients with a gentle but honest approach, drawing from her experiences as a mother of three. She also finds joy in helping her mature patients optimize their health and well-being.
Outside of work, Dr. Beckford enjoys volunteering for community efforts and local charities with her husband, a cardiologist. Together, they like to spend time with their children and travel.
