Vicki Burslem, CNM

Vicki Burslem, CNMVicki Burslem, MSN, CNM, returns to Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare in September, 2010, to serve as our Director of Midwifery Services, after a several year hiatus while her family relocated to Connecticut. Vicki completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, with her nurse-midwifery education and Master of Science in maternal-child nursing degree earned at the University of Illinois. Like a cat, Vicki’s career path has had many lives, leading to a variety of clinical practice settings, from in-hospital to out-of-hospital at a freestanding birth center, from inner-city indigent care to provision of care to women in the private practice setting. Additionally, Vicki has a strong commitment to graduate nursing education, both academically and clinically. She was a “CNEP Pioneer”, serving as a founding faculty member of Frontier’s distance education program and currently is a faculty member with Philadelphia University’s graduate distance nurse-midwifery education program. She has also authored a chapter on the provision of prenatal care for women’s health nurse practitioners.

Vicki and her husband, Rick are newly empty nesters in 2010, with son Stephen starting at UGA (Go Dawgs!), daughter Becca entering her senior year at Auburn (War Eagle!), and eldest child, Emily, launched and thriving after graduating from Georgia Tech (Go Yellow Jackets!). This is a family truly divided! Remaining at home are Maggie the cat, Chester the dog, and several unnamed, non-descript fish, which somehow she always seems to end up feeding.
