Telephone System - We are proud to announce that your phone call will normally be answered by a staff operator. She will assist in directing your call to the proper location. Any emergency calls will be directed to the physician or nurse-midwife on call at Southern Regional Medical Center. In addition to our appointment schedulers, referral coordinator and surgery coordinator, we have a triage team, headed by an RN, who is dedicated solely to facilitating your care. All calls directed to the triage phone system will be processed in order of urgency and need, with a commitment to returning all calls as quickly as possible. Remember to leave all phone numbers with your message where you might easily be reached with a response. We respect the integrity of our patients, therefore, we uphold patient confidentiality strictly at all times.

Insurance and Fees - As a patient at Southern Crescent Women's Healthcare, you assume a personal responsibility for your account with us. Should you experience a change of insurance, your name, address or phone number we expect you to notify us. Correct data is critical to the filing of insurance claims as well as allowing us to reach you concerning medical issues.

Payment is expected at the time of service unless we have a contractual agreement with your insurance carrier. If so, we will gladly file a claim on your behalf. For your information, we have compiled a list of insurance plans with which we have agreements.

Hospital Affiliation - We are on staff at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia - a 367 bed hospital offering a complete care facility for women. The new Women's Life Center opened in May, 2001. Both the obstetrical and gynecology services are the most progressive and updated in the South Atlanta area. The new Women's Life OB Center offers birthing rooms, sibling visitation, and childbirth classes
with total focus on the family. The newborn nursery and neonatal intensive care nursery have the latest in equipment and specialized professional staff. The neonatalogists are on staff twenty-four hours a day for those special babies requiring tertiary intensive care.

We are also on staff at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. You may visit the hospital website at www.fayettehospital.org. The obstetrical services department is now open and we are delivering babies at the hospital. You and your physician will discuss the option to deliver at Piedmont Fayette during the course of your care.

Lab Results - Southern Crescent Women's Healthcare offers a private, confidential, and convenient method to inform patients of their lab results. When you are seen by a provider, you will be given a LabCalls information sheet and phone number. For our GYN PATIENTS, your labs will be entered in the LabCalls system after they have been reviewed, which normally takes about two to four weeks from the date they are done, depending on the lab test ordered. For our OB PATIENTS, only the following lab results are put into LabCalls: AFP Plus (15-21 weeks gestation), diabetes screening (24-28 weeks gestation) and Group B Strep (35-37 weeks gestation) screening tests. All other labs are discussed at your next prenatal appointment.

To access your results, you simply call the phone number given, enter your social security number and listen to the messages specifically about your test results. Abnormal results needing attention will be handled by a personal phone call or return visit.
