Tanya Beckford, MD, FACOG

Tanya Beckford, MD, OB/GYN at Southern Crescent Womens Healthcare Dr. Tanya Beckford joined Southern Crescent Women's Healthcare in July 2014. She has been practicing medicine in Georgia since 2008. A native of New York, she has an undergraduate degree from the Honors College at Stony Brook University. She received her medical degree and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She then served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the same institution. Dr Beckford is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Beckford enjoys working with females of all ages. She prides herself in serving as a positive mentor to teenage girls. Her gentle but honest approach provides guidance for young women. As a mother of three, she can personally relate to the changes and challenges that women face. She also enjoys helping women mature and optimize their health and well being.

Dr. Beckford performs deliveries of both high and low risk pregnancies. She routinely performs vaginal hysterectomy, which is the least invasive type of hysterectomy and leaves no visible incisions. She also performs laparoscopic and abdominal hysterectomies when needed.  She has a special interest in urogynecology, pelvic floor relaxation and incontinence surgery. Dr. Beckford performs many office procedures including ablation, sterilization, and hysteroscopy.

Dr. Beckford believes in tailoring the treatment to every patient’s needs. She understands that there are often alternatives to surgery, and is happy to discuss options for nonsurgical management.

Dr. Beckford is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. She and her husband, a cardiologist, enjoy giving back to their community and volunteering in local charities.  In their free time, they enjoy spending time with their children and traveling.
